This series that ran from Fall 2011 through Spring 2012 and consists of twelve episodes covering the many facets of grief in hopes that we can promote hope and healing for those that are suffering loss, any kind of loss. The first series will focus on the loss of a loved one but we feel this information is invaluable to those grieving for differing reasons.
This series will try to answer some of the many questions asked by those in grief, such as ‘Will I ever heal?’ and ‘Will I ever be normal again’. It will address those questions often asked by their support systems, such as: ‘What do I do?’ or ‘What do I say?’. And it is our wish that we can raise awareness of the general public to lessen the stigma of these topics, to be better prepared to help ourselves or others if the need does arise, and to reduce the fear of the unknown.
Many episodes in the series will highlight an impressive panel and their dialogue on key topics and will offer the personal and poignant stories of loss of two of our panel members and how they have healed.
There will be specials on three caring organizations, Hospice Austin, My Healing Place, and The Christi Center as well as a special program on ‘Surviving the Holidays’.
Our panel lead is Charmiel Teresi, founding partner of the Grief to Peace Project. Our panel members are:
- Khris Ford, LPC, founder of My Healing Place, who suffered a tragic loss of her son
- Doran Oatman, LCSW, Bereavement Coordinator for HospiceAustin
- Mary Lisa, a registered nurse who suffered the devastating and sudden loss of her husband
Some episodes will include a live call-in session during the last segment of each program hosted by Charmiel Teresi with one of our panel members or a guest speaker who will be available to respond to your questions.
